No one school is best for all students; moreover, what families are looking for in a school will vary considerably. Some may be looking for a school that sends a good number of graduates to Ivy League universities; others may be interested in a spiritual environment, a good co-curricular program, or simply a well… More >>

I purchased this book prior to visiting any of the San Francisco Bay Area high schools. This book provides detailed information with regards to each school’s student body, admission process, costs, mission statements/goals, academic program, campus life, student support services, student conduct and health codes, summer programs, parent involvement, sports and what sets each school apart from others. They even include a section on how parents and students characterize the school! General information can be found on each school’s website, but Little & Molligan’s extensive educational background, and first-hand knowledge of each school and its staff, creates a collective source of information that is unparalleled for Bay Area schools. If you’re a parent wanting updated figures on class size, percentage of students receiving financial aid, breakdown of SAT scores and what percent of students enroll in college, you won’t be disappointed. This book should be the starting point for anybody considering going to a Bay Area private high school. It saved me dozens of hours doing my own research not to mention how nice it is to having one source that handles 99% of my needs. It was only after visiting the high schools and rereading this book’s description of each school where I could appreciate their breadth of content. This book does everything but fill out your application.

Wow! I got this book to help my daughter and I find a private school in the city and it was so helpful! It saved me hours on the internet and even has very useful information that you can’t find on the school web pages. It was so great that I truly recommend it out there for everyone looking into private schools. Do yourself a favor…. it’s worth it!

The wisdom and advice on how to navigate the school selection and application process was invaluable. Having the information on the schools laid out in the same format greatly reduced the time for internet research. There is no other source available like this.

I had hoped for more information on the schools than can be found on the internet — maybe some parent perspectives, some insider views, some negatives (everything has some) — but this book is just a compilation of schools and what they like about themselves. Very disappointing.
